Changed all the wood trims to White, painted all walls, closets, doors, 2-toned railings, some ceilings, colour consultation, etc. Paint colour is Collingwood OC-28. Top rail & front door colour is Fairview Taupe HC-85 (I'm currently obsessed with this colour and plan to use it in my home) Here's a story about the colour selection... I met with the homeowner to select her paint colours and I brought my large samples of popular neutrals. Based on her selection of tiles and flooring, I suggested Collingwood OC-28. She bought several different paint samples and tried them all over the house. Should you paint ledgestone? Personally, I like natural stone...but when the stone doesn't complement the colour scheme of your home, go ahead and paint those rocks! Peel n Stick wallpaper from @rockymountaindecals. This product is awesome to work with. Very high quality product. 👍👍 Peel N Stick Pros and Cons (from my experience): PROS - Easy to remove when the time comes - No mess compared to water or adhesive products - Don't have to worry about seams opening - Murals are an option (no visible pattern repeat) CONS - More expensive than most wallpapers. Better the quality, more $$$ (BUT...higher upfront cost will be worth the easy removal compared to the labour/wall repairs when removing adhesive wallpaper) - It's essentially a giant sticker and you must have the skills and patience to get professional results. - Lord help you if you mess up and it sticks to itself - Brutal Papercuts can happen - More waste to dispose of from the sticker-backing - Cheaper products are prone to ink smearing when cleaning So I realize the CONS list is longer, but in general I like the idea of Peel n Stick and I wouldn't hesitate to install more Rocky Mountain Wall Decals 😁 #wallsrevived #walldecals #peelnstick #wallpaper #renovationfind

GOLD!! My clients decided to be adventurous with this feature wall. Product: Modern Masters, Gold Rush. I applied a gold-coloured paint first (2 coats) then 4 coats of the metallic paint. *metallic "paint" is tricky to work with as it's not uniform like regular paint and instead has reflective particles. So depending on application, you can get various results. I did brush & roll this ...very carefully. Isn't this gorgeous? 😍 What caught my eye was the wood window trim. Oftentimes I'm asked to paint wood trims white. Beware!! Your flooring or bright rugs can cast colour reflections onto your walls and ceilings! (Also bright feature wall colours will do the same) * I was walking up the stairs and saw a red glow... I looked over and saw a red blanket on the floor (thanks hunny)...I was amazed at how the sunlight was reflecting that much colour. I started remembering houses I've been in with strong red or yellow hardwood flooring and how it changed the wall/ceiling colour. Red floors gave the walls a blush and yellow floors made the ceiling look dingy. Ceilings matter! The severely yellowed ceilings made the walls look drab. Well, this was a challenge! So 1 roll of wallpaper will typically get you 3-4 strips depending on pattern repeat. I needed 6 strips for this wall and I only had 1 roll to work with. TIP ALERT: Tester paints. I encourage testing samples on your walls to see the undertones on various walls. BUT... best to apply the samples smoothly to avoid ridges (as shown) -These ridges will show through the top coats and need to be sanded down. Also, don't skimp on the tester sites.. Does this wall look blue to you? A designer picked this colour (Silver Satin OC-26) and said it would match the flooring, tiles, counters, trim, etc. I'm not sold yet on mixing cool and warm colours.. and neither was my client. So we changed it! See next photo for a better choice. Natural Cream OC-14. ~ this colour is becoming a favourite go-to greige. It has a slight yellow undertone which works with warm surroundings. Also goes well with cream or white trims. I've seen Silver Satin work in other spaces and did not have a strong blue undertone. Flooring, trims, and LIGHTING, have a huge influence on pulling undertones. Paint Colour Tip Alert! What's this? It's a lesson about doors & trims.. Sometimes they aren't "white" (as indicated by the bright white papertowel I'm holding against it). This is a very important factor when choosing a wall colour because they should complement eachother. * I started painting Classic Gray OC-23 (a popular safe neutral light gray) ~ which didn't look good at all with the door & trim colour. Had to reselect a more suitable wall colour. * Why not change the doors and trims to White? Easier said than done! Painting Tip: I love when clients choose dramatic colours. However, I would suggest NOT painting your closets with dark colours. Rather closets should be painted with off-white colours to brighten the space for more visibility. (Also you won't need to paint it when you decide to change your room colour.)
